RANTES蛋白背景綜述
Chemokine (C-C motif) ligand 5, also known as CCL5 and RANTES (acronym for Regulated upon Activation, Normal T cell Expressed and presumably Secreted), is an 8 kDa protein classified as a member of the β (C-C) chemokine subfamily of proinflammatory cytokines. CCL5 is chemotactic for T cells,eosinophils, and basophils, and plays an active role in recruiting leukocytes into inflammatory sites. With the help of particular cytokines that are released by T cells, CCL5 induces the proliferation and activation of certain natural killer (NK) cells. It is also an HIV-suppressive factor released from CD8+ T cells and has been shown to interact with CCR3, CCR5, and CCR1. Fractalkine (also known as CX3CL1) is one of two known transmembrane chemokines, and contains a chemokine domain tethered on a long mucin-like stalk within the ECD. Fractalkine binds with high affinity to CX3CR1 and mediates the tight binding of leukocytes expressing CX3CR1 independently of G protein activation. The chemokine domain of human Fractalkine is replaced by human RANTES in the purified RANTES/mucin-like stalk chimera.
